Random Act of Kindness Challenge

It is easy to sit back and complain about the way the world is today and how awful people are but are YOU doing anything to change it? YOU need to be the change you want to see in this world. I am a strong believer in practicing random acts of kindness.

What is a random act of kindness? It is doing something for someone else that they do not expect. It is simply being nice. Next trash day why not pick up your neighbors trash cans from the curb? When you are grocery shopping why not help the elderly lady load her groceries? When you go to Starbucks why not pay for the coffee of the person behind you? If more people were just nicer to each other this world may not seem as scary or crazy as it does.

Bostock's Martial Arts & Fitness is challenging you to do 1 random act of kindness per day from now until December 31, 2012. That is 331 random acts of kindness and if that person pays it forward that's 662 and so on and so on.  Random acts of kindness can cause a chain reaction. So, will you accept this challenge?

Kick Stress Out of Your Life

WOW ! I am glad last week is over. It was a very busy week. I know that a busier week or day than normal means an increase in my stress level. How about you? There are a lot of great ways to reduce you stress level.

Listening to music is one great way to help reduce your stress level. Just like music can help get you hyped up when you are working out it can also have a calming effect. Try playing classical music or nature sounds in the background next time you are feeling a little more stress than normal.

Meditaion is another great way to reduce stress. No you do not have to sit on the floor with your legs crossed like pretzels humming hmmmmm to meditate. Any act that you do repeatedly that distracts you from your thoughts can be considered meditation. Activities like running, swimming, and of course tae kwon do are all forms of exercise that you need to focus on what you are doing and provides repetition.

My personal favorite is exercising to reduce stress. Exercising produces the release of "feel" good endorphins. Get your body moving ! One of the reasons I love what I do is I get to kick and yell and that results in reducing my stress level.

You will always have stress in your life. It's a part of life but being stressed out does not have to be. Next time you are feeling more stressed out than normal, take a step back, take a deep breathe, and look at why you are feeling stressed. Is it really worth it? In a year, a month, or a week from now will it be worth stressing about? Stress has many negative effects on your health. YOU always come first...don't let stress control you. So, next time you are feeling stressed make sure  you stop by Bostock's Martial Arts & Fitness to kick stress out of your life . What is your favorite way to reduce stress?

Solution to your resolution

The first month of 2012 is half way done. Wow ! Do you remember New Year's Eve? I know many of you probably don't but how about the day after, New Year's Day. How many of you made the resolution or goal to eat healthier, exercise more, to get in better shape or healthier? Now, how many of you are actually sticking to it???? If you can do something for two weeks it will become a habit. We have hit the two week mark in January. Any new good habit? No more excuses this is the year for YOU! Be selfish when it comes to your health. Martial Arts is an AWESOME way to get or stay in shape. What other type of exercise can you wear pajamas and kick and scream in a padded room? According to the mayo clinic a 200 pound person doing a one hour tae kwon do class can burn 937 calories. So what excuse do you have not to take class? Martial Arts is the solution to your resolution !
